The collection guide

Choose a garment for your medieval outfit

Start with the garment and silhouette

This collection includes coats, jackets, tunics, gowns and robes. A long robe or coat changes the outline of the whole outfit; a shorter jacket leaves more of the layer beneath visible. Use the product’s body size chart to choose a starting size, then ask for any missing finished length, sleeve or shoulder measurements. Consider sitting, walking and your event footwear.

Read the construction details

Compare the stated fibre content, lining, closures and pockets where listed. Do not judge warmth by the colour or assume a hooded coat is rainwear. The product description should explain what the garment is made from and how to care for it.

Distinguish fantasy styling from period requirements

For LARP and fairs, choose a shape that suits your character and comfort. If you need period-specific reenactment clothing, verify the pattern and details with your group. A medieval-inspired coat is not automatically a documented historical reproduction.

Medieval Coats & Jackets: common questions

What is the difference between a coat and a gambeson?

A coat is an outer garment; a gambeson is associated with padded, quilted construction. For a quilted layer, compare the gambeson collection and the specifications of the individual item.

How do I choose between a tunic, robe and coat?

Start with the outfit you want to build. A tunic can form the main body layer, while an open robe or coat can frame clothing beneath it. Compare the neckline, closures, sleeve shape and length in each listing, then choose by the actual size guide.

Can I add a hood or cloak over a coat?

Yes, if the necklines, sleeves and fastenings leave enough room for comfortable layering. Compare the measurements of the complete outfit.
