Open Surcoat Size Guide
Measure around the fullest part of your chest with the tape level, over the shirt or other layers you intend to wear underneath. Keep the tape comfortably snug and record the measurement without adding extra inches or centimeters.
Use this Montfort surcoat chart for S/M, L/XL or 2XL/3XL. Chest is measured on the wearer over the intended tunic or padded layer; the other columns are finished garment measurements.

Measure finished shoulder width seam to seam across the back. Front length runs from the high shoulder point beside the neck to the front hem. Side-opening length runs along the open edge from its upper end to its lower end.
The open sides fasten with ties rather than forming a fixed closed chest circumference. Check the shoulder placement and tie position over your intended layers; compare the front length with your desired hem while wearing the intended footwear.
Measurements are given in inches and centimeters. The first unit shown is the reference; the second is rounded. Use one unit consistently.
Montfort is a knee-length heraldic surcoat with a two-color body, open sides and braided ties. The included blank shield panel gives the chest a simple heraldic shape without supplied artwork.
Design and details
The front and back divide vertically into a dark color and natural flax, with charcoal edge binding. Three braided ties on each side connect the open panels. A shallow front split finishes the hem. The chest shield detaches with concealed snaps; the back remains plain.

What is included

Care
Machine wash cold only after removing the shield panel. Use mild detergent, do not bleach, and line dry. Warm iron from the reverse and avoid direct heat on the snaps.
