Measure over the underlayer you intend to wear. Measure bust around its fullest part, natural waist around the narrowest part of the torso, and hip around the fullest part of the seat. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug.

For Avelin, check the shaped waist and upper-hip coverage. For Briar Gate, check the laced torso over your chosen underdress; lacing is not a substitute for selecting the right bust and waist range. For Lantern Hall, check the shoulder-to-hem length and sleeve coverage of the fuller gown. For the sideless Marl Fen, check shoulder-bridge placement, side-opening depth and the hip fit where the skirt joins.

Measure the intended length from the high shoulder point beside the neck to the hem, wearing your event footwear. For sleeved designs, record shoulder-to-wrist length with the elbow slightly bent. If you need exact finished garment or opening measurements, contact us before ordering.

Marl Fen is a sleeveless, sideless surcote designed to frame a contrasting underdress. A modest V neckline and narrow shoulder bridges lead into a broad, gored skirt.

Design and details

The deep curved side openings run from the armholes toward the hips, revealing the gown beneath. The front and back join below the openings. There are no side ties, attached sleeves or separate closures.

Wool-based outer fabric with facings at the neckline and open sides. The body has no full lining.
